EXCELLENT Based on 43 reviews Chris and Becky27/03/2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I truly cannot thank Roy enough for everything he has taught us. About three months ago, we adopted a 10-week-old Goldendoodle puppy. Even though this wasn’t our first dog and we had done a lot to prepare—reading countless articles, watching hours of YouTube videos—I quickly realized we were in over our heads. Our sweet puppy was more like a tiny grizzly bear, and nothing we were doing seemed to help. Thankfully, the parents of one of her littermates recommended Roy, and I’m so glad we gave him a try. We enrolled in his 6-week puppy course and also scheduled an additional in-home visit to help with crate training and some pretty intense demand barking. The difference between the dog we had seven weeks ago and the dog we have today is incredible—they're like two different animals. I'll admit, at first, I was hesitant. Roy's rates are lower than many other trainers in the area, and I wondered if that meant he wouldn’t be as effective. I am so happy to report that I believe Roy is not just "as good"—he is the very best. It's clear his pricing reflects his passion and genuine love for what he does, not a lack of skill or experience. A few things stood out to me right away: his well-organized, thoughtful website, which gives you access to tons of helpful resources once you're in the program, and the logical, step-by-step structure of his training. You’re never left guessing what comes next, and it all just makes sense. I was also initially unsure about the outdoor setting—rain, mud, the whole thing isn't really my thing—but after taking the class, I totally get it. He intentionally chooses a real-world environment to help you and your dog learn how to work through distractions and conditions you’ll encounter in everyday life. And finally, Roy is incredibly responsive. I sent him a lot of texts over those seven weeks, and he never once made me feel like I was a bother. He was always quick to reply and genuinely happy to help. If you’re on the fence for any reason—whether it’s the price, the outdoor setting, or just general hesitation—do yourself and your dog a favor and make the commitment. You’ll be so glad you did. Our experience with Roy was excellent. Roy was professional extremely knowledgeable and supportive. We cannot recommend his training for Izzy enough. We only wish we had taped his catch ups with us as he provided fantastic knowledge Sarina J11/02/2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Should be a million stars if it was possible!! I am starting this review as someone who has been to other dog “trainers” before. And I say dog “trainers” because, in hindsight, they really weren’t. Roy is a dog TRAINER. Roy is absolutely incredible. You can so easily tell he has spent his entire life dedicated to dog training and wellbeing. Wellbeing is particularly important. This training is not for your puppy/dog to do cute tricks and entertain you. This training is to protect their lives, their mental and physical health, and their overall quality of life. Roy knows dogs through and through, from their little nuances in behaviour that we, as average dog owners, would never notice and what they mean, to his advocacy to dog nutrition and properly supporting their physical needs. He is incredibly knowledgeable about surgeries, healing, feeding, training, health, omg the list could go on. This leads to Roy’s support. His training are far more than just an hour’s lesson. They are training pdfs, videos, links, constant communication – you can message this guy day or night, and he’ll give you the answer, then and there. It can be daunting to pay for a huge chunk of lessons and put your faith and money into someone’s knowledge about training, but Roy is worth it, honestly. I hadn’t even finished puppy class before booking the next lot of classes. The classes give a sense of camaraderie, we’re all there, knowing very little about how to train and take care of our 2-4-month-old puppies, and we’ve come out of class with well-behaved, happy dogs. His approach isn’t about suppressing dogs or turning them into robots, but ensuring they’re happy and confident, and using positive reinforcement to do so. Honestly, he is training us owners to be better parents to our pups. I've seen anxious, reactive dogs transform into calm, relaxed pups under Roy’s guidance in like 5 minutes, it was incredible. It was like seeing the show Dog’s Behaving Badly but actually real and unedited. This may sound long winded, but I think very, very, very highly about Roy and Learn Doglish. I see dog owners on walks, and they ask about my pup, and I tell them I train with Roy, this follows every time with a shower of “Oh, Roy, oh he’s incredible” “Yes, up in Shrewsbury Park? I took my one there too” “Oh yes, I took my one and she’s so much more happier now”. If you are in the market for a dog trainer, Learn Doglish is the one you need. Yes, there are cheaper ones out there, but you get what you pay, and I don’t believe costs should matter when it comes to your pup’s wellbeing. Our puppy developed really well over the 6 week course, Roy is an excellent trainer and was always on hand for any questions that we may have had. We look forward to starting the junior course soon! nicole ocrisse15/01/2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hi Roy, I want to clarify a few points regarding my experience with your services. I didn’t carry the burden of this situation for two years, but I paid £180 for a set of six lessons. However, after the first lesson, I found your behaviour unacceptable. You raised your voice at both my dog and me, which led me to decide to walk away and request a refund. You informed me that you couldn’t refund me because I had access to your online videos. Since then, I've moved on and hired a reputable dog trainer from Greenwich Pack. Unfortunately, I've also encountered others who have had similar negative experiences with you. As a group, we’ve decided to share our stories to warn others about your practices and discuss the possibility of legal action against you. I cannot recommend Roy enough, he’s been absolutely brilliant with us and our 8 year old whippet Mabel. She’s always been so good but in recent years developed some behavioural issues when we’d take her out places with us and wouldn’t settle like she used to. Roy explained so much to us, is full of extra advice and focused on helping us rebuild a calm and confident hound. We practice all the exercises Roy has taught us as part of Mabel’s daily routine now; he’s helped us with issues we didn’t even realise we had - such as loose lease walking, Mabel always used to like to be slightly ahead of us and pull on her lead quite often - now she walks like a dream right by our side! (With lots of practice I’ll add, but after a few weeks you’ll see Roy’s exercises really do work). Mabel really enjoys the training and responds so well to it, we can now take her out and about with us, like we used to, to cafes, restaurants etc. and she settles happily - and most importantly we know how to manage the situation if another dog comes past her in these scenarios. It’s made life so much easier! Roy is extremely knowledgeable (on not just training but dog health too) and is lovely to work with. Everyone should have a Roy when they own a dog! Highly recommend, Bethany, Sam (and Mabel) Hannah Lanfear02/12/2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We found Roy's puppy class very helpful to get our pup Finch started out on the right foot. Roy has been incredibly generous with his time and knowledge - if you're having a challenge (and there are plenty of challenges with puppies!), Roy has got the solution and is quick to offer support. Thank you Roy for a great class. We look forward Juniors and hopefully will have lots of practice under our belt for the next time you see her. We met Roy when Milo was just 9 weeks old, and starting training early was the best decision! Roy is a fantastic trainer with years of experience, and his calm, friendly approach immediately put us at ease. His layered exercises and positive reinforcement techniques make the training process enjoyable and easy to follow. After each session, Roy provides detailed homework and videos to practice daily, which has been invaluable in Milo’s progress. We’ve seen remarkable improvement already, and Milo loves his sessions. Roy’s step-by-step approach ensures long-term success. We highly recommend him to anyone looking for exceptional dog training!
